Riviera-Sochi, Park of Culture and Recreation

Riviera Park was founded by A.V. Khludov. The famous merchant decided to create a huge park and build an estate back in 1898. In 1901 Khludov sold the estate with the park to the city treasury. During the Civil War many valuable trees of the park were cut down for firewood. After the nationalization in 1920, its restoration and reconstruction began. The park begins to acquire its modern appearance in the 1950s-60s.

Riviera Beach -

Popular and civilized beach near the park of the same name - it is convenient if you want to relax from the sun in the shade of trees. There are platforms for beach volleyball and soccer, cafes, free toilets, changing cabins, showers, water taps. The beach itself consists of very heterogeneous pebbles, up to small cobbles.

The central embankment of Sochi -

A long pedestrian street along the Black Sea along Primorskaya Street, which is considered the most important street in the city. The central pedestrian promenade of Sochi is popularly called the Promenade, like the Promenade in St. Tropez on the French Riviera.

The seaport of Sochi -

Russia's largest harbor on the Black Sea coast. In the water area of the multifunctional port there are seven modern large piers: to receive cruise passenger ships (up to 311 m long, draft up to 8.8 m) of all types, as well as ferries (up to 135 m long, draft up to 6.5 m).
There are also numerous marinas for pleasure boats of more than 60 types: from small motor boats and launches to sailing yachts.

Navaginskaya Pedestrian Street

The pedestrian Navaginskaya Street in Sochi is loved by both citizens and guests of the city. In the morning hours and in the afternoon you can relax from the resort bustle in the shade of subtropical trees, have a coffee or read a book on a bench - there is a bookcase for bookcrossing. In the evening on Navaginskaya Street in Sochi you can watch performances of street artists, admire the light and music fountain and sit on the summer terrace of one of the restaurants.

Sochi National Park, Arboretum

The creator of the Sochi Arboretum is S.N. Khudekov. The park was founded in 1889. The planning was done by the owner together with his friend S.A. Kostarev and his nephew. The plants for the park were bought in the gardens of the Crimea, Germany and the Caucasus. At the moment the area of the park is 49 hectares. It grows more than 1,500 species, forms, and varieties of trees and shrubs. Arboretum is a monument of landscape art in Russia.

Railway station

The 1930s (as well as later 2010s) for Sochi were the time of rapid construction of facilities designed to clearly demonstrate the greatness of the country. So Stalin Empire is one of the key styles for Sochi, and the railway station is one of its most striking examples in the city. Look at the station's inner courtyards decorated with fountains and sculptures. And look at the five-meter diameter tower clocks. Instead of numbers on them - signs of the zodiac.

Winter Theater

The building is truly a work of art. The theater consists of 88 columns with a horizontal mullion encircling the building. On the roof of the theater there are figures of ancient Greek characters Terpsichora, Melpomene and Thalia. The auditorium of the theater seats 950 people. The ceiling of the hall is decorated with a huge chandelier of 300 lamps with crystal pendants. The hall is built in such a way that the stage can be seen from any seat in the auditorium.

Summer Theater

In 1937, the Summer Theater was built by the architect V.S. Krolevets. The structure is open and resembles an ancient Greek temple. At the end of the 90s the theater fell into disrepair and was almost never used. It was restored in 2001. The ancient staircase leads from the theater square directly to the embankment.

Russian-Japanese Friendship Garden

Plants from Japan are planted here. In the park, you can find Japanese larch, Korean fir, cross-stemmed microbiota, bamboo, oriental thuja, sakura, magnolias and many other oriental plants, which are quite exotic even for a resort city, where numerous representatives of flora from different parts of the world are collected. At the entrance to the park is installed dragon. The garden is decorated with elegant Japanese lanterns, beautiful holly, picturesque bushes of bamboo, a park of stones, a small decorative pond with a bridge in the Japanese style.
